Not a chance heaven on this, solid rods, usually glass with rod all the way thru the handle , 9 to 10ft are standard with a 2 piece construction, you could try a heavy duty ugly stick with a fast tip, but down to six foot, doubt it.
Cabelas, Gander Mountain, and Bass Pro all sell telescoping rods.
I pull dipsy's with my p/k rods and they work fine.

I use the 8'0" t-scoping St. Croix glass rod (PGT80MT). It has a pretty good action for dipseys. Cabelas 8'6" t-scoping rod will work, but probably has a little to much power in the middle of the rod.
BTW-I ddon't think you will find an 8' or 8'6" rod will telescope to 6'0". I think mine go to about 6'6".

True, but there more of a planer board rod you might be taking a risk of not cracking the joint, in a case of salmon fishing, a big salmon might crack that joint right off. The construction, the guides are heavy duty on a dipsey rods, I also have used downrigger rods for dipsey fishing but you will notice some furrule damage when fishing deep water. I've gotten by doing that also, but would not recommend going the cheap route on a new purchase.

Meaning to say "cracking" not "not cracking"
