this has been hashed thru many many times here on this and many other boards. do a search and you should find more than enough to read. IMHO after spending big bucks on that motor, why try to go cheap on oil. countless hours of testing went into the final results that determined materials used, thickness, tolerances etc and OIL makeup to achieve the end result. just because a oil states it meets or even exceeds every manufactures specs, does not a oil make. there are quite a few additives for every manufactures oil that differ in amounts etc. every manufacture runs different tolerences/rings etc and they take different additives in different amounts to keep those parts lubed! if you don't run in the upper rpm range where things are most critical(friction for the most part), then the oil make up isn't as critical. or if you don't care about the longevity of the motor buy the cheaper oil. again just MHO

I would have to aggree. After spending a gazillion dollars on equipment, whats the point in penny pinching now??How significant could the savings be ?

I will agree with not going with cheap oil. It is the most critical thing you put in that $20.000.00 motor. With most oils (including yamalube) they are carbon based. You must also run a carbon free additive to help fight carbon build up . I know most don't but believe me you will pay the extra when you bring it in to be fixed.
So take your cheap oil and add the price of a carbon free and now what does it cost. Answer : the price of a good oil.The part about if you only run at midrange is not exaxtly correct. At mid range your motor works harder than at high speed. It is designed to run wide open and works best there. At midrange it works everything harder.
I recommend using a synthetic oil called AMSOIL. With this you do not have to use a carbon free and you are getting the most protection and no it does not void warranties. Do a little research. Ask racers of snowmobiles, motorcycles, pilots, and farmers. You will be surprised how many use this because of it's longivity and protection. We run it in our boats ,cars, trucks, chainsaws, weedeaters, snowblowers,Etc. Amsoil can go 24,000 miles in your vehicles between changes.
No I'm not a dealer,it is just a great product. Opinion- Yes but based on experience and research. Good Luck

Another good synthetic is KLOTZ, it has a nice smell to it, won't burn your eyes like regular 2 stroke oils. It sells for about $25.00 -$30.00 per gallon. Airwave, has much does AMSOIL cost?

Keep using the Yamalube and also use RingFree and you will
have no worries.

It varies between 18.00 -22.00 a gallon in this area. But what it does for a motor is worth every penny. They have oil for transmission also. Using them increases performance and gas mileage. In the pre-mix you use it 100/1 so you make twice as much as the normal 50/1.
