View Full Version : Wire for Bottom Bouncers
I'm thinking of making my own bottom bouncers (special lengths, etc.).
What kind of wire should I use and where can I get it?
Thanks

I use .035" for smaller bouncers and ..041" or .043" (stainless wire) for the larger ones. Cableas, Netcraft are a few places you can get it. They also sell a little wire bending jig that looks like a "c" clamp for about $15 that makes nice bends. I have used it for lots of other things, too.

In addition to the above sources, Hagen's of South Dakota also sells coils of suitable wire. I'd suggest measuring the wire that is commonly used in the bottom bouncers on most tackle shops' shelves, and use one diameter thicker. Most of the bouncers that are made have wire that's too flexible.

Yes, basically thats what I did (measuring). I found that .041 and .043 are pretty stout, any thicker it gets hard to work the wire. I have used stainless welding rod that was thicker, but you run into the problem of the wire being too think to fit into the mold without modifying it.

just a little trick for bottombouncers under 1 1/2 ounces use rubbercore sinkers they pull off easy if snagged and makes very easy to change weights
