is it a natural lake or an impoundment (reservoir)? There are probably two places that I would tend to hit first in search of eyes. Deeper submerged timber (especially on/near points) and if the body of water is large with good numbers of schooling prey fish, and kind of mid-water level contour changes.

the sauger in the area that I fished seem to like a little shallower timber and points a lot.

Hope this at least gives you a little bit of an idea.

Fish channel swings particularly where the contact a point or flat, this time of year target probably 25 to 35 fow, bottom bouncers or lead core trolling get the job done in missouri should work in OK too, If it's shallow and somewhat stained like the lakes in Kansas then you may want to go much shallower.
