Ok all....here in Montana, the fall turnover has begun. Just wondering what the most effective tactic you have used during this time of year. Fishing the Mo and large deep reservoirs on same, around here. Tried bouncers and caught lots of dinks.

There is a good story on the homepage on this site... Fish the flats near your structure(sand flats if you have them there). Also I do still do well in the weeds by pulling through them with leadcore or bouncers--- long leads. Shorter leads in the rocky areas... If you are catching dinks look at your map and see where the bigger ones may be holding...They probably aren't far from the dinks and closer to the structure... We just came off that eclipse and moon phase too...??? Our fishing here in the U.P. of Mich. has slowed the last week... The fish are just making their fall move near their winter and spring haunts... Maybe look between the deep and shallow areas for long flats and again keep targeting the weeds and rockpiles... They are loading up on crayfish.. Also the bait is getting bigger so upsize some of your offerings and see if that works and I have noticed downsizing to work also... The baby leeches are all over the weeds here... Keep trying. If you are catching little ones the big ones aren't far... Just guessing probably within a 1/2 or 1 mile???

Cranks or harnesses in the shallow areas,hot-n-tots, shad raps, reef runners-ripsticks, rapalas etc...1.5-2 mph

Now is the time to use the BIG Deep Diving Reef Runners. It was about this time last yr I was having great luck going over the humps on structure at Lake Sakakawea.

Am having a little better luck....caught 30 or so yesterday, but only 3 eaters. Tried dragging cranks in late afternoon, with no takers....everywhere from 8-30' and from 1-3mph. Tried slip bobbering in 22' with lots of bite offs. Went back to bouncing for most success, switched from crawlers to plastics to try and save bait, to no avail. Did notice that majority of fish were taken on sandy bottom. Back after it again in a couple of days. Thanks for your info guys.:thanks2:
