Tell me what you think. My fishing is simple. I have cought more walleyes in all conditions using a lindy system than jigging or crankbaits. Another method I use is rig jigging. On my last trip to upper mn for the opener in May my group was using jig tipped with minnows. These were Pos who had been fishing the are for years. I came with a small tackle box. Taking the Kiss approach as I usually do. I tied a hook to my line ans added a cople splitshoe a couple feet from the hook and line my line go to the bottom. I opened my bail and let out a few yards of free line and waited for the line to move. When it did I realed in to get the line taught and let it rip!. That afternoon we outfished the Pros at camp 5to1 and soon the camp was just using hooks with live bait!
Sometimes you do not need all the fancy stuff! The simpler the method the Better.

I agree, sometimes... we should look back and keep it simple.
When I go to the bondery waters, the locals I go with fish with just a split shot and hook, and they always kick my butt.
But, if your on a new body of water, you cant cover water quickly with it, if the fish are down 30' deep, your gonna have a hard time. So you have to be versitle.
If it was that simple, there wouldnt be all the other toys out there.
Thank god for walleye toys!!

You have to understand that when pro's are prefishing, they are looking for presentations and places that are holding fish. Alot of the time they only fish one week a year at any given lake. And they have to figure out what and were the fish are biting. If you try and come down here and fish live bait rigs here in ohio, I bet you will have a pathitic week of fishing. Once a pro finds the fish he or she will perfect ther presentation to catch the bigger fish. But i will tell you that you helped them alot by telling them how you were catching them. Ad I bet theey went out and perfected what you were doing.

To me, that is about one step from catching the fish in a net.

I grew up fishing straight lindy rig for walleyes up in northern ontario. A split shot ,a gold aberdeen hook , and a small strip of gullet from the throat of the first stupid northern we could get!! no minnows none of that fancy stuff and my dad still to this day will not put a jig on with me!!!
