I own a st.croix rod (avid) that I accidently broke. With a $20.00 shipping and handling fee, there sending me back a brand new rod, no questions asked! What a great company to deal with! What a great rod too! And no, I don't work for them.

i have yet to break down and buy one .... there is a pretty blue one down at my local bait shop ,,, i think its a seven or 7 and a hlf footer .. excalaber... i call it .. i always buy cheep immitation knock offs of IM8 quality the this one is sitting in the window ,, with spot lights on it... my buddys st.crox are all ugly green... this one is bright sky blue.. i think it even has sparkles on it although they my just be lighting affects... i must have her... i think its like 2-250 not sure ... but my 16th oz jigs with a half a crawler on em would fly like the wind over my little rock pile ... SHWING! it will be mine.... it... will ....be ... mine... good thing that replacement warrrnty,,,, i tend to set them in the back of my yukon and my yukon is a bit shorter than the suburban i usta have.... i tend to leave my windows open a crack and sometimes my rod tips wiggle over to the crack and then sometimes i roll my windows up.... anyway this is why i dont own one to this day... think i could get it replaced no questions asked? or do i just buy it and be super carful... ? SHWING!

That's not really that unnusual nowadays and there are even companies that make just as good of a rod that only charge $9.95 for a replacement.
Even better is when the company allows the retailer to swap the rods over the counter so it doesn't cost you anything and you are not out of a rods for a couple weeks. St Croix recently stopped allowing there retailers to do the over the counter exchange.

I love my St Croix's!! Besides the great warranty support, they produce an awesome rod!

if people ever wonder why there are 600 dollar and more rods out there... the unconditional lifetime warranty would be one of the reasons.
interesting article years back in a fishing retailer mag about how lifetime warranties has killed the soul of the rod companies.

I remember that article! One high end fly rod maker was explaining how they were sending out more free warranty rods because of there uncondional warranty then they were selling new rods! ANd this wasn't because of faulty rods, the majority was because of abuse to the rods and people wanting the latest model and color rod so they would break there rods on purpose at the end of the season.

wow are you kidding me? makes sence though .. but breaking your rod at the end of the year to get a new one... thats bull**** no wonder these things are expensive.. i dont know about anyone else but i believe in carma and i thing as a fishpole ages and slowly becomes a 5th or sixth appendage depending on gender. the longer i have a favorite pole for a certain presantation the more comfortable i get with it and the more alian a new one feels... its a shame if thats the case ,,, more replacements than sales.. although if you sell 5000 rods a year and after 5 years you have 25000 out there on the water ... im sure a small percentage of that 25000 rods are going to come back a year .. but a small percentage does add up to a-lot of money and fishpoles a year.. it must be hard for a manufacturer.. but then i know guys that have 15 st.croxs there using old fenwiks and loomis for perch fishing... once a customer picks a favorite it may take a few years but he ends up with a boat full of them in time... he has 6 trolling rods 2 vertical jigging rods 2 7 foot pitching jig rods and 2 slip bobber rods.. all st.croix plus i know he has 2 musky rods (never used) and his son buys nothing but st.croix and has a decal on his truck and his fishing partner also has the same complement of st.croix... the next rod i buy for myself will be a st. croix and it will continue on as i slowly replace my favorites with the brand... a good company... none of these guys have broaken a rod on perpose but i do know of a couple that have been replaced out of the 25 or 30 rods between these three maybe 4 or 5 all togather got sent in... hope st.croix keeps up the quality and it may take me some time but the things are almost intoxicating.... there is something to them ... the word is getting out ... i hope they dont lose there small builder quality but again i havent baught my first one yet... if i dont have it before it will be under my chrismas tree this year.. and then im sure it will start ... oh i need two for this and 2 just for that ,,, and my son will havta have one and here we go again...

You've never bought a St. Croix yet you are willing to replace all your rods with them? Boy they must have good marketing!

Shimano carries a lifetime warranty on their compre and crucial rods ($70-150) and I believe they are an over the counter trade.
Hmmmm, more replacements than sales. G. Loomis and St. Croix both charge upwards of $300-400 and more for their high end rods. Could this really be a $100 rod with the eventual trade in cost added in?

yes if i had to fish one brand it would be st. crox i think... but up until now they are spendy for me .. i have two 7 footers that were made by st.croix years back and private labbled for a retailer... they are great sticks IM8 and light with good guides and handle.. since then the retailer has gone to china for there stuff... i have bought one since as they are still a great value for the money and have a 1 year replacement on them.. still when you pick up one of the st.croix 300.00 class rods you can feel the diference in weight.. a bit but hard to justify the expence i think on average and im a bit frugle .. i spend 50-60 dollars for a rod... i buy on sale or in a discount bin .. i know what im looking at in a good stick and sometimes you can find a real deal... i packed up to IM8 lightning rods for i think 25 bucks a piece last year at a big box store,.. dont use them much but many times i bring guests and there for virtical jigging for the most part so i need two pair of matching rods... and then for pitching jigs i want the quality , im almost convinced on spending 300 but this rod will get 90% of my attention for the year... my bread and butter so to speak and i think although i catch plenty of fish and get great feel with a similar less expensive model i think i just want one cause i want one... and i know there is going to be an upgrade in weight balance and sensitivity... im not telling people to go nuts ive been fighting this for many many years , i get out a minimum of twice a week i would have this rod in my hand 90% of the time if not more... i would catch oh i dont know 200 walleyes a year with it not counting about the same amount of sheephed smallmouth, whitebass and other fish that pick up my jig.. im not telling anyone they have to buy one just that i can see why someone does and why they would buy more than one... like i said i have two buddies that have a st.croix in there hand for virtical jigging pitching jigs trolling 6 lines rigging over the side of the boat with bouncers or 3 ways.. they have about 15 each... there good rods as other rodbuilders build great stuff ... im just struggling with buying my first ..its not the name its the quality of the high end that they build ,, im sure somone could make me a custom rod with the same blank wrap it and i would be just as happy as can be ,,, but they will cost just as much... im in the same boat as most .. i dont wanna spend that much ,, im just telling you im getting close... thats all
I really like the Avid Series, great rod, fair price good selection whether for Musky or Walleye or whatever AND they are made right here in the USA which is a major point for me.

I only use St.Croix and have broken several . Our local dealership will replace them over the counter and send the broken one in free of charge!!! They are by far the best rod I have ever used and the best company I have dealt with yet!!! I wish they would realize that I am the best fisherman and offer me a sponsorship!!!!HA! HA!

St. Croix rods not only are very dependable, but their customer service is second to none. Even rods not covered under warranty will be replaced at an exceptional value. Plus if you need a sponsor for a tournament their as good as it gets. I have a legend, an avid and a tournament legend and feel the price matched the sensitivity.

How do you feel about their Triumph series for jigging or is the Bass Pro Walleye Signature better for the money, esp when on sale.

I would spend the extra 20 bucks and get a St. Croix Premier. 6'6 or 7 foot is perfect for jigging. Lundman
