I like to troll my crankbaits fairly fast and troll live bait slow. What is the best crankbait for slow trolling?

Really slow? The flatfish.
It's not really a crankbait, more of a flattened banana plug.
We pull out the Husky Jerks and Rogues when the water cools down here on Lake Erie. They have a great slow action to them when trolled.

I was looking for something that had a lot of action while trolling at 1.8 mph. I will have to give these a try.

I'll second what Juls said, in cold water, Husky's and Rouges work best, have had real good luck with dare I say Renosky's, they work good in cold water better than warm. Although I don't catch fish on them deep diving taildancers have alot of action at all speeds, some guys have luck with them. Don't forget about ripsticks and reef runnerss as well.
D'Oh! How could I forget the Reef Runners and Rip Sticks? Stupid me! I only have a gazillion of them babies. :duh:

don't forget the Salmo's.

The good old Rapala F-18 still puts a ton of big ones in the boats every fall here on LBDN, shallow on the reefs, or with leadcore down deep.

A Gary Roach Smithwick, the small ones are deadly at very slow speeds.

I'd also add thundersticks to that list. We routinely catch fish on them under 1.5 mph.

1.8 isnt all too slow you can troll prety much any crank and have good action at that speeds shad raps eye divers etc.

When I speed up on the Shad Raps my catch rate goes up, so I think that the Shad Rap has a higher catch rate at higher speeds.

Bombers have a nice slow roll to them and they work very well for nite bites on Erie in the spring and fall when the water is cold.

I like the Hot n Tot for slow trolling with good action. You can even use them while trolling with spinners. I'll use lead core on the
Hot n Tot and mono on the spinners, works well.

My vote would go for the Smithwicks and Rebel minnows. Both work great. The small Thunderstick ( not the baby) would my second choice.

It looks like the Rogues have the most votes. I will try some of those.

What speed is fast trolling and slow trolling. I have a new Lowrance X510 and the speed thing seems much more accurate than the one on my old X70A. I think I troll at 1.5 MPH most of the time. I troll crank baits. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Bombers are to hard to reel in.

at 1.8 or so smaller musky lures can work awesome, they wont dive more than a couple feet because the heaviness of the bait wont allow it but the larger profile can sometimes be awesome. I also second the bombers.
