I've been doing well on our local river when the weather allows.. Monday and Tuesday were really good. I let numerous big girls go while searching for limits of nice eater size walleye. With Tuesday nights rain, I knew it would be high and muddy yesterday.. which it was. Fished for several hours before catching a fish, but finally boated a nice 18"er. Several hours later, with the wind driving me almost to the quiting point, I got another hit. This one felt substantial when I set the hook.. and it was. She taped at 32" long and 20" around and read 13#, 2oz. on a certified scale. I feel just a tad guilty for keeping her, but also feel that she was well past her spawning prime. Just had to get some pictures and a certified weight! Seems ironic, with all the big walleyes we get trolling the eastern basin of Erie, that my biggest comes from the Susquehanna.. five minutes from home! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Congrats on a GREAT fish. Nothing to feel guilty about. She will look great on the wall and a great story to go with it.
Congrats.

Congrats. Great fish. Nothing to feel guilty about. That fish has given millions of eggs back to the system, now it's your turn to enjoy it.

Sluggo-I think you should eat it and have a 'glass replica made! ;-)That's a huge fish, especially for a river system. It would have gone on my wall, too. Good job!

I just saw the picture of that fish on the LOU site and way to go on that one Chris! You know I've caught plenty out of the same spots you're probably fishing and that's a monster for the Susky and the biggest one I've heard of out of the river. We've taken 3 or 4 that were a shade over 10lbs out of Whitney Point but never anything that big. That's Quinte size right there!!!!!!!!!!

eyedoktr, how's it going out there? Hope you're fully enjoying your retirement and doing lots of fishing.

Chris, very nice fish, congrats. You will probably not catch another that big.

I have not caught anything near 13 pounds, but I also caught my peronal best this year. Until this tear I hadn't caught one over 8 pounds, but I caught 5 or 6 ten pounds plus on Erie.

Chris, Quilty??? I'd say you should be proud of your ability and your extra proud of your persistence. Great fish, and the taxidermist can skin her & give you the meat (so long as you go with a wal type mount).

Filleting a headless finless walleye is a little different, but it's not all that bad.

Tim's thought of a replica mount is a good one, but the really nice replicas command a handsome price.

That's a dandy! Congrats. There aren't many fishermen who can say they have caught a 13 lb'er. Myself included.

You should keep a personal best, IMO. Nothing like a real mount you can enjoy for many years.

Congradulations!!

That's a great catch, My best was during a Southtowns Tournament. 30" - 11.57 Lbs. Thats in fourty some years of fishing. The Walleye is on my wall, and it was tasty. It will look huge when you get it mounted as it should.

What are you doing out in the wind at this time of the year. Ah! you don't have a fireplace.
