I'm in the middle of trying to get service as I type this.I called mercury and they gave me the number for Tri-State Trolling Motors in St. Louis. He said they would be the closest repair center to me.I live in Ohio. The number is (314) 921-7292. The number is still busy.I need a 7420 repaired.Good Luck goose925 They farm out their repair work now.

I have 2 7420's. One develops horizontal lines across the screen. The longer it is on, the more lines appear. After awhile you can't read the depth. The other one is fine.I bought both new last spring. The one started acting up 2 months after I got it.Finally getting around to sending it in.Trying to track down where to send it for service wasn't the most conveinent either.

I hear you there. I've been the route of sending a MinnKota to an "authorized" service center. After getting the motor back from Hullings Tackle Pro in Colorado Springs, within five minutes of using I could tell they didn't do crap. Cost me some money to ship down there too. Minnkota ended up issuing call tags the next 3 times I had to send it in for the same thing that never did get fixed.
So, I buy motorguide the next time around and now that I need to send in my 7420 and Excel Motorguide motor due to interference, there is no factory work. I really am weary spending $100 to ship it to Tri-State Trolling Motors with absolutely no guarantee that the problem will be fixed nor any necks to wring. Purely hypothetical, but the dollars at risk isn't worth the value added. I spent alot of money on it already. A little interference isn't impossible to work through right now. Kinda sucks too that the whole marketing scheme is "interference free" for the built in transducer. I would love to have the option of just taking off the transducer to send in, but that option doesn't exist with these new built in transducer motors.

I hear yah.part of the reason I went with the 2 7420's is all the great reviews on their service.well their website seemed to always be down.then their number on their website is no longer in service so it tells you to call mercury.then mercury tells me to hang up and place a long distance call to st.Louis and they aren't sure how long it will take. good luck goose925

I have called the old Pinpoint number, and it is very clear on how to get in touch with customer service. It does not take much time to just call the old number, but the new number is 920-929-5040. This is consumer affairs for Mercury, MotorGuide and Pinpoint. It only took me 2 minutes to find this out. I also found out the the web sites are not current or correct becaused they had belong to Zebco and Brunswick sold Zebco and they are tring to work out the details on the ownership of both Motorguide and pinpoints web sites.
hope this help you. Tri-State or the MotorClinic can check out the interference you are having with the Excel and sonars. I have both and have had no interference at all, but my buddy has the same problem at first, and it was tracked down to the rigging of the boat and batteries. Once it was wired correctly, the interference went away.

Wiring on my boat is done "by the book" and hasn't changed since I first installed the motor and pinpoint, but the interference has started.
I am sending my motor to Tri State to get fixed and to have the shaft extended to 60".
I sure hope they come through for me.

I have had my 7420 sent in for repair for a month. I call every week about it and they tell me that the parts aren't in and they have no idea when they will be in. I am getting very nervous that I will not have my graph back in time for first outing.

In response to Darrell's # 1-800-947-6122 is accurate. They will help you but my dilemma is that I am looking into buying a new 7520 but after talking to the rep there yesterday neither he nor I really know what the real meaning of new is. Evidently there is no way to know whether your getting a unit that is 2 years old or one fresh from the factory. He also said with all the changes right now parts are really hard to get at this point. Have heard nothing but good about this unit but am a little skeptical. Need a little input from others. Thanks in advance.

As an outside sales rep/distributor for MotorGuide/Pinpoint the 800 number listed above is for Mercury Sales and not customer service. They will help for a short period of time, but eventually, they will refer you to the correct number for customer service, which is 920-929-5040. As far as getting current models of any sonar, if you purchase from most retail outlets, you will receive the most current and updated unit available as if you went and got one off the line the minute it is built. Pinpoint has always keep their dealers with most updated units, and gives dealers the opportunity each year to return stock to be updated if changes have been made. You could possible find a very small dealer who has not kept in touch with his reps and not taken advantage of this program, but if you stick with the larger marine dealers or retail outlets you will get the lastest. I hope this will ease your mind some.
