I'm trying to find a quality line counter trolling reel, yet reel makers insist on puting the crank on the wrong side of the reel. Is there a left crank line counter reel out there that has bearings??? The only reel I can find is the Cabela's, oil releasing bushing reel.

My boy is left handed - hard to find them. I ordered a Cabelas - looks like the new PENN 209LC come in a lefty version....

Thank's I'll look into that. BTW, I'm right hand dominate. I cast, work lures, set hooks, and fight fish with my right hand. The only thing my left hand does is, turn the reel crank, steer the boat while trolling, lip bass, and hold the landing net when I'm alone in the boat.

Why? Because 90%+ of the reels sold are right handed. It's hard enough to sell any left handed reel let alone a specialty reel like a line counter.

They're not backwards, they're just perfect. 'Course I'm a lefty.
As a lefty I like to hold/cast the rod with my left hand, and retrieve with the right regardless if I'm using a level wind or a spinning reel.
Why do right handed people switch sides when they go to a level wind? That would seem awkward to me.

Heck... I use left and right baitcasters. No problem.
It only takes about 30 casts to get used to using the wrong hand... and then you're all trained. ;)

I am a lefty that uses right-handed gear. Learn how to use it. It is much cheaper in the long run than having two sets of every type of gear.

The Cabela's Depthmaster Gold has 3 bearings, a nice reel for the money, and it does indeed come in a left-handed version.

Okuma makes a left handed line counter, I ordered 10 of themby accident once and had to send them back. I would however go with the Convector, it is heads and tails better than even the updated Magda's. If you are having trouble finding them, shoot me an e-mail and I may be able to help you out.

Oh great, I misread it. The gear releases the oil, not bushings. Thanks, I'll have to look at them again.

Yeah, but 90% of Americans are right handed. So why do they allow reel makers to force backwards reels on them??? I've done the right hand cranking thing, I grew up on it. As I got older, I realized that it was backwards. Having spent many years using right hand cranking reels, an now many years using left hand cranking reels, I refuse to go back to right hand cranking.

Try Abu Garcia Ambas______(?)'s. All their reels come in left handed models. Much easier to use for a righty that's used right handed spinning reels all their life.
