http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/motors/detail.asp?pg=fem Go to the Engine Mount Selection Chart and it will show you what size to get! I'm getting the 80em-24V for my 18ft Lund. I know a few guys that have these and they love em!! This is what you want for trolling big water!

if your going to troll, get the one for the big motor. if you want to jig go for the bow. like everything else..the 36 will outlast a 24 volt. it just depends on what your needs are.

Like others already said....it depends on how you fish.
For my fishing, the motor mounted one is useless.
The 80# will do it for 90% of us.

If plan on going to a river but the 101. If you are only going to fish lakes a 74 or 80 will work. Mytheroy is there is no such thing as to big.

Doing some Great Lakes trolling myself, I would definately say a bowmount terrova 101. 36lbs. will give you enogh power to push it plus LONGEVITY! If you fish a river then you could use the bow mount for verticle jigging. I see guys with the engine mount and they always seem to be in the steering wheel overcorrecting their trolling pass. A bow mount it is easier to stay on line or correct faster because the motor is on the front. Remember to add auto pilot and a co pilot and you will have the ultimate in TOTAL BOAT CONTROL bar none.

I would strongly recommend 36 volt 101lb thrust for your 2025.

Get the 101 for the 2025. That way you will have enough power to hold in high winds or current. Auto Pilot is a great feature and lets you control the boat while tying on, landing fish, etc.

I've got the 24V 75lb thrust Motorguide on my 1900 Pro V, and if I would have been the one spec'ing the motor, I would have gone with the 36V 101# motor with Autopilot (I love the Autopilot feature), because I do the majority of my trolling and boat control with the bow mount.

However, I agree with TMac, the 75# (80#) motor will get the job done 90% of the time.

I also agree with TMac that for my style of fishing, the engine mount motors are useless.

Go with 36volt Terrova, this will give the best of both worlds. It gives you an autopilot for hands free fishing while trolling. I put my autopilot down and use it to control the direction the boat goes and leave my 150 alone the mertens keeps it straight. It is the only way to fly if your a great lakes troller. You will be able also be able to work off the front to jig, cast, rig, pull bouncers,or whatever you like to do up front. I don't see why you need that big electric troll motor on the back for if you have 4-stroke kicker.

i didn't think i would like them either untill this past season fishing with my partner who has one on his boat. silent, dial in a speed even more accurately than with a kicker, less weight than a kicker (already have a 101 on the front.. for jigging i don't like autopilots, they are to slow reacting for me and no feedback/feel)
if i didn't handline, i wouldn't have a kicker anymore, only an electric on the big motor. IMHO

No doubt about it... get the 101. I have the 80 on my 17.5 tiller and would get the 101 if I could fit the 3 batteries in the compartment.

You can always turn the power down.

There is plenty of good advice already in this post, but if you plan on trolling the great lakes with a bow mount you may have some problems. I would definitely advise you to get the longest shaft they make! The problem with a bow mount is that you'll lose "grip" when fishing in bigger waves. You wouldn't have this problem with the engine mount motors. If you lose "grip" with an engine mount... it's probably time to head in.

I have an 80# PowerDrive on a 19.5' Crestliner. It moves that boat fine all day long while jigging the river. I've used it in conjunction with my kicker while trolling to help me hold my line. I still think the best combination is a 4-stroke kicker for trolling and a bow mount for jigging. I wouldn't want to rely on an electric motor to get me back to the dock if my big motor had a problem.

I have an 18 foot boat. For me I would go with the 36 volt if I had room for the batteries. Bigger is better. On a 20 foot, I would for sure. This is a personal preference sort of thing and it all depends upon how you fish and how often.

101 thrust minimum. I have the 80lb thrust Vantage on my 16' runabout. It's plenty of thrust for the boat, but if I moved up to a boat over 18 feet, I would get the 101. When I was shopping for an electric motor, I narrowed it down to the Vantage, and a motor mounted E-motor. I read post after post about how guy's on big lakes and off shore didn't like them at all. I figured if they didn't work for their big boats on big waters, it would be the same as my smaller boat on smaller waters. Boat control was the biggest complaint. I think that came from the fact the motor is mounted above the lower unit. As the wave raised the back of the boat, it would pull the motor part way out of the water, not good.

I have a 20' Crestliner tournament series which would be almost identical to your boat size/weight.

I previously had an 82# and it was satisfactory and you would not go wrong probably. However, I upgraded to a 101# and it was worth every penny. I would suggest the 101#.

If I have the space for 3 DeepCycle batteries for my 16ft, I wouldn't have gone with 80lbs. I don't think there is "Overpowered".......there is only "Underpowered".:smokin: #

I have a Lund 2100 Baron, a big ole' heavy girl just about old enough to vote. I have an 80# bow mount and it seems to be fine. No complaints. Would a 101# be to much?.......No. In NO WAY would I be with out the auto pilot. But most importantly for me was shaft length. If I didn't get the 60 incher, I'd never be able to control the boat when the waves act up. HUGE difference between a 54 and a 60. You can turn the power on the 101 down and you can raise the shaft up on a 60 incher, but you can never do the reverse. And with the price of those darn things you don't want to be unhappy with it.

Keep 'er on the bottom!

I have a 2025 and use an 80lb. It handles it, but at times I do wish I had a 36. If you're just buying, go with the 36 vold.
