Any opinions/reviews or first hand experience with these reels?
I am thinking of getting one for L.Ont kings,
the specs don't look bad for an under $100 reel, but I know real life reviews can be very different.

Tica is the best kept secret right now in the reel business other than the loyal following of ice anglers who use their Cetus's. I've got several Tica's including 3 248 SS linecounters and they are the best trolling reel you can get outside of the Tekotas for less than $100. Beautiful drag system and a better built and smoother reel than the Diawa Sealines and to top it off they are less money. Sizewise the 248 is comparable to a 48 Sealine. I use mine for pulling inline boards and for stripers because they are a little too big for general walleye trolling but would be perfect for salmon on Lake O. The cheapest place to get them that I've found is Big Tackle. You will love these things!

Thanks for the reply slipbob, good to know you can still get a decent line counter reel for under $100,
I am thinking of getting a Seaspirit SS558R/C for a 10 colour leadcore set up. since you can change the spool so easyly on those reels, I might get a spare spool for 7 strand ss wire/dipsy set up too.

Slipbob, I checked the tica website and the daiwa website and they list the ss248c at 390 of 12lb making it actually smaller than a daiwa sg27. The Tica 348 is still smaller than the daiwa 47. Just curious as I am looking to set up some new board rods and reels but want to be as small as the 27 or smaller, size wise but where , and there are no dealers near me that I know of that stock the Tica ss248. Thanks for any additional insight.

Scott, I don't know if this will help you at all but here's a link to one of my pictures so you can see the 248 Tica next to one of my 47 Sealines to get an idea of size.

The 248 Tica has a fairly large frame and is comparable in actual size to the 48 Sealines. Line capacity wise it's not much different than the 27 Sealine but physically it's a little bigger. Here's the link again to the only place I know of to get those particular Tica's.

I have 2 of the 348 Tica's for my lead core setups and I have no problem putting all 10 colors on them. I would agree that these are great reels.

I have a 10 color core setup on a PENN 330GTi(150yards of 30# Powerpro backing + 10 colors of 37# core + 50 feet of 40# floro leader).
the PENN 330GTi has a capacity of 350 yds of 30# mono and the reel is completely filled to the top with the above setup.
Tica Seaspirit 558 has a capacity of 305 yds of 30# mono(less then 330GTi), I might have to cut back on the backing a little or a couple of colors to have a similar setup.
I do need at least a 100 yds of backing when a large king heads for Rochester. LOL
