Most of the guys around here (SW Mi.) use Hopkins spoons. 1/2, 3/4, and 1 oz. weights are the most popular. Sometimes Silver, sometimes Gold. With or without colored tape. You've just got to experiment and find what works best for your lakes or rivers and if you see someone else doing it, ask what they have been most successful using. It will save you having to buy all of the options right up front and save you time and money. Our best option seems to be 3/4 oz. silver plain. Next option: 3/4 oz. Silver w/chartreuse tape. Golds seem to be better in tannic stained waters and tapes more effective in muddy off-colored waters, either Silver or Gold. This is my general experience but there are alot better jigging spoon guys around than I am. Hopefully they will expand on this. It is truely one of the most under-used options by most of us. It just plain works when other things don't and should be tried earlier instead of as a last resort.

Do the Fergies come in smaller sizes?

I've got a variety of different kinds I carry for different situations.
I probably use Hopkins more than anything else. Stainless & have a little slower fall/flutter.
Rattle Snakies & Buckshot Rattle, use lead (I think) & seem to have a little faster f/f & is what they want sometimes or in current, too. Same with a Crippled Herring or Bomber slab just no rattle.
I always have a few lighter ones for working around the weeds. Krocadiles, castmasters...
For knockin' on wood, rivers, rocks or any other lure eating place I carry some cheap lead spoons. I make my own, but you see them for sale here & there.
While you're at it,you might want to pick up some single hooks (Siwash), if you don't have some already, for fishing the snags/weeds.
I need to try some of the Fergies, too.
