I am looking to purchase an electronic map of lake erie. It doesn't appear that the navionics east region map includes this. This will be used in a lowrance lcx-27 unit. What is recommended?

It's listed on the "East" chip. You have to scroll down to the state of Ohio to see the listing for Lake Erie.
It covers the Western, Central, and Eastern Basins (all of Lake Erie).
This is the same chip we use in our units.
Your unit is compatible with all BUT the "Platinum" chips. The chip linked above is a "Premium Hot Maps" chip, so you can use it.

does that chip include the canadian side of erie ?
rebs
Rebs,
I know that the '07 chips don't (which is the one we were using last year). The "North" chip would have been needed for that side of the lake.
The '08, Canadian (North chip), lists Lake Erie the same way the East chip does, so I can't say for sure if that means both chips have the entire lake, or if it just means that each chip shows their side of the lake in each of the three sections (Western, Central, and Eastern Basins).
My guess is that each chip shows their side of the lake, and has remained the same from '07, in that regard.
Jeff,
Can you tell us for sure what the details are?
Thanks,
Juls

I live in Canada, but fish the MWC and USA walleye tournaments so I often have to get mapping data for both sides of the Great Lakes. At one time we needed to purhase 2 chips, but last year I ran the Gold Great Lakes & Maritimes - 14XG SD cards in my GPS units and it covered all the great lakes on both the Canadian and United Sates sides of the lakes.
Hope that helps...

Shoal Angler,
The chip that Sheldon used is compatible with the LCX-27 too.

14XG 256mb also has good maps of St Clair, Simcoe, Huron, Georgian Bay, Lake Of The Woods and many more in Canada, Great Card !!
Hot Maps Priemum East (SD/prem-E2 DEC2006 512mb) shows Canadian Side of Erie from Detroit River to about 3 mi. East Of Pt. Pelee, and then from a point about 4 miles west of Pt Abino to Fort Erie.
It has ALLOT of the smaller lakes on the US side.
