OK, I nave never had a sonar but I get to get one now. What is the best and easiest to run. I am willing to spend up to $1500.00 Do they really help you find fish and are some better than others as far as ajusting or setting. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

go to some sports shows that have units set up as demo's , better you get to play with them ,also bass/pro and cablas has reps to help teach you . you gotta make up your own mind on the one for you.

Just got one last year at age 56,you just have to get what you think will serve your pupose like the other guys said, "asking questions". I have learn so much in just one year I can't wait to see what I discover this year. It works as well as I know how to use it. Rick

Go to Lowrance's web site and you can download the various units onto your computer, then play around with them. It's also a good training tool once you do buy one so you kinda know what you are doing BEFORE you hit the water. Such as saving a trail, and then navigating the various trails you have saved. It's a great tool to learn on, you eliminate down time on the water and you are not burning any gas while you are at your computer. Or, you could just do like me and have your 13 year old son go with you all the time. so when you are done cussing and swearing at it for 20 minutes he can come in and fix things for you in a minute or so.
Just pick one you like, as long as it is color. 640x640, and a 7 inch screen. $1500.00 should more than take care of that.
