I replace my mono at least twice a year, my fireline every other year, but how about leadcore? I have used it for three years and it "appears" to be in good shape. How often does everyone replace theirs?

Thanks

I'd base it on the appearance and break strength of the line. If it still looks good and seems to have retained its strength, I'd continue to use it. If it's fraying at all, I'd change it. What I often do is let all the line out (100 yds) walking around the perimeter of my back yard and lay the line in the grass. I then reel it up in reverse order, so that what was at the bottom of the spool is not the first line in the water.

Like fireline, it depends on how much you use it and how long it has been exposed to the sun. If you only use it a few times a year and then it is stored inside it should be good for a long time. But if you leave it in the cold and heat it will deteriate faster.

I use reels that hold 10 colors (full spool) of leadcore and after a couple of years I reverse the line on the spools. Where I fish I seldom have out more than 5 or 6 colors so reversing the line most often will get like new leadcore line to the fore front of your spool

I run a ton of the stuff literally for salmon. I replace my mono leaders at the start of every season and when the need it during the season.

When I'm tying on a new leader I replace the leadcore when I can no longer peel the outer sheath off the lead to make a knot. I've never had it fail on me.
