with 100' of line out will a bigger dipsy get further away from the boat than a smaller one or not. same speed and settings.

Is this a trick question or did you just word it wrongly? Any lure or diver out 100 ft is going to be exactly 100 ft from the boat. There will be a differance in to where in the water column it will be but distance from the boat will be 100 ft.

If you're speaking of horizontal separation (off to the side from the line of the boat), The answer is yes at higher speeds and no at lower speeds. The ring adds much more to the spread than to the depth, and that's the main reason for using the ring.

I'm going to go to the Walker Deeper Divers to get away from the rings, but their depth calcs are way off (too deep) per Mark Romanack. His new book will include the Walker divers.
