I currently use 20lb. fireline for bottom bouncing crawler harnesses but wonder which is better, braid or mono? I set the drag loose to play walleyes and also in case of a snag. I usually put both rods in a rod holder and very rarely lose a fish once hooked. However I do miss fish especially short strikers. Thanks for your input once again.

Don`t know whats better? Best is what works for you. I use power pro 15 lb for bouncing. I dont like fire line seen it break easy before when it ages. For my harnesses I use 14lb mono Trilene XT moss green. I only use the Power Pro on the rod I hold. My dead stick I use a spinning rod with 10lb mono.

14lb Trilene XL - right combination of strength and limpness. 14lb low-vis XT for harnesses. This is for Lake Erie. You could probably go lighter other places.

I use both but if I know i'm going to use jet or dipsy divers anytime on these rods go ahead and put braided on.

I use Fireline as my main line, and I really like it. I usually go with the 14 pound for my mainline. If you want to get more of the short biters on your crawler harnesses, just tie your own spinners and lengthen the distance between the hooks by half an inch or so. It makes a huge difference with the short biters!

I prefer braid over fire or mono, personal preference. I had some trouble with fireline. If I'm getting alot of short strikes I just start to pinch the tail end of the crawler off, hook up is much better.

I don't do a lot of bottom bouncing but when I do its in 20 to 40 FOW, I like braid in those depths, my harnesses are 30" to 48" long and I use 100% fluorocarbon to tie those.
