For the last 3 months, I have been looking at Pinpoints and reading posts here, thinking it was time to upgrade a 10 yr.old Minnkota bowmount. Then I decided to wait another year...until the Michigan opener yesterday. I suspect moisture invaded the motor over the winter, as it turns hard and makes very bad noises.
So I am forced into a decision now and really like the Pinpoint. However, today I learned it will most likely interfere with my Bottom Line 211 which reads off the transom. They are on the same frequency. Any experience out there with this problem? If so, I will need to purchase two sonar screen units.
The second question is relating to the installation on a 1990 Lund ProV 1800. Does one need to be an electrical and marine engineer? I have seen some posts regarding installation problems. Anyone install one on similar Lunds and any tips for this installation? I saw the post on the bow light needing relocation on Lunds.
The salesman at Reed's (very helpful) says its not bad if you follow instructions.
The upside of all this is getting a great new tool. The downside is I will need the motor and two sonar screens, battery, bracket, charger, etc., etc. Ouch!!
Oh, and my wife agrees as long as she has a screen to watch too and if the installation does not cut into her fishing!
Words of wisdom appreciated. Good fishin' to all, expecially any folks from 'da U.P.
