I realize I am opening a box of worms here but with the advancement of fishing lines I´m looking for a new favorite (have always been a fan of Berkley Trilene XT). Any favorites I should consider? I do use superlines and some fluorocarbon lines for leaders. It´s just sometimes I love the feel of a good Mono. I´m also interested in the new copolymers - are they any good. Looking at the PLine series. Thanks for any help.

For several years I exclusively used Stren Magnathin mono on all my reels..then two years ago a new guy on our trip gave me a filler spool of Berkley Vanish Transition..Ive been using that ever since..but im open to other good lines whether they be mono, florocarbon or braided..have been kicking around the idea of spooling my 3 trolling reels, one with the Vanish Transition, one with the new Berkley Florocarbon and one with a super line..then I will go from there

I like AN-40 Silverthread, I have tried them all. But I keep going back to AN-40. I do use Fireline for trolling it's the only thing that does'nt cut easily as I fish the Mississippi.

I have two favorites. Trilene and power Pro.

I either use PowerPro or Flourocarbons. Only if the bite is super hot, do I use mono. Trilene Big Game for me.

I pretty much use Trilene Sensation for everything. It works great on spinning and baitcasting gear for me. I am not a fan of braided line unless it is for pike fishing.

I used to use XT but now I will only used Maxima in 10 pound, so far the best mono for trolling I have ever used. It's awesome stuff

For mono, I like Nitlon the best. Trouble is, it has to be ordered from Japan. Other than that, I use Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. Not to start an argument, but it is a mono, albeit a co-poly mono.

I'm a Luddite stuck with Magnathin.

You might give YoZuri a try.
It is a hybrid mono / floro line that has excellent characteristics.
Low stretch, good knot strength, reasonable flex, and good abrasion resistance.

Take care

p.s.
I also like the AN440 as well. It doesn't have the floro, but is a fine mono line.

Try Gamma Co-polymer!

You will forget about other brands quickly. Little expensive
when comparing, but that is only downside.

Enjoy and Good Luck this season.

McCoy is my favorite. Supple, strong, doesn't twist up and get brittle after100 hours of fishing like some lines do.

Another vote for Maxima here. I don't think you can find a better all around mono.

I have used many brands and types of line and I feel the best all purpose line I have tried is the Berkley Sensation. I like 12 lb for trolling both cranks and harnesses. It has some of the best qualities of both mono and the superlines and it has a 10 lb diameter which allows it to fit in nicely with the trolling depth charts.

Been using Stren clear mono for as long as I can remember, mainly because I'm familiar with it and it does work well for me.
6 or 8# for jigging and 10# for trolling usually.

I did let the cabala's salesman talk me into Power Pro for my spinning reels, so I'll it on 3 or 4 reels and see what happens.

I'll second the vote for Yozuri Hybrid. I used XT for as long as I can remember, until they "fixed" it with their new formulation a few years back. Since then I have tried so many new lines that I've lost count of them. The one that I have found to be most like the old XT is Yozuri Hybrid. It's tough and ties good knots. I use it in 4 lb. and 10 lb. Just bought a spool of the Yozuri Ultrasoft to try for this year. I hope it performs like the regular Yozuri- maybe I can stop experimenting and looking for a replacement line!

Trilene Big Game 20#.

Hey Jim Tunney... I quit using that over rated over priced floro. If that 50# test wire we use on spinners dont spook the fish then neither will my 20# Trilene!

Come fish with me!

Stren Clear Blue Flourescent for me. Especially for night fishing using a black light.

I use Trilene Big Game for all trolling applications except for my Dipsy Diver rigs. I'm trying some Big Game on a couple of baitcasters this year that had Trilene Ironsilk before. Limpness in my mono is important to me. I can live with the stretch but hate the kinky memory. Big Game and Silverthread are both nice and limp.

If you are a fan of Trilene XT. Try Spiderwire XXX Mono. I think you will like the performance better. Less worry of new line hassle
