Could someone give me the thread in which this topic has been addressed? I have been wondering as to the useage of these types of rods. Has anyone had any experience with them ie., trolling, jigging, etc.? What's the best make/model?

Hey doc! I think there must be a few different brands out there huh? I remember seeing the cabelas and the diawas. Ive herd allot of complaints about people fishing with theese that have cotton stuck to there line from cottonwood trees getting stuck inside your rod. I purchased the platinumZX innercast 6ft spinning med. action rod from cabelas and could never be more happy with it. I dont think you would have to worry about this one clogging up. There is a removable screw on the bottom part of the handle of the rod and you can see all the way threw the rod. Im guessing you could just plug up the first hole where you thread your line threw an use a air compressor to blow all the crap threw. As for weight I thought it would be a very heavy rod. Its not, lighter that my fenwick EagleGT. Very sensitive too. I use powerpro and i was catching 4-5in perch while fishing for walleye in 30-40ft of water with a 1/8oz jig. It also casts well. Kind of odd but some days better than others even with the same weather conditions. I noticed it works allot better to cast when you atleast have a 1/4oz lure on there. I hope this helps your descision some.

All I use for most applications are interline rods. I have some Daiwas and some Cabelas. The Daiwas are a little better for casting if you are using spinning or baitcasting but the Cabelas trolling and dipsey rods make awesome planer board rods. Use the 9 ft heavy action for planers and dipseys, as the med/heavy are too light.I will try the new heavy action 8'6" Cabelas trolling rods this year as well. For spinning I would stick with the Daiwas considering the price difference is not so great as with the dipsey rods.
Man , can you ever get these in and out of a crowded rod locker with ease. The actions on these rods are incredible too. Beautiful rod arch and amazing strength. Try a couple, you won't be dissapointed.
