Im not new to Walleye fishing but I am new to planer board fishing. My question is how heavy of monofilament OR Fireline do I need to have on my reels for when Im trolling so the clips on the planer boards dont slip off?

There is a really good thread going on right now in "strictly fishing" about planer boards. It's worth the read. Generally for Offshore boards, many folks upgrade to the OR-18 clamp style release that is offerred by offshore. They will work great for either mono or braided line. If you choose to go with mono, I would probably suggest not going lighter that 10lb test. If going with braid, I really like 30/8 power pro myself. Braided line with have a tendency to slip more than mono, but once again, with the upgraded OR-18 releases, it is not an issue.
Welcome to site!!!!!
I think you will find that adding planer boards to your arsenal will have a huge impact on the success of your fishing.
