I make my own out of plastic vodka bottles. They work great and if someone steals it my wife just has to finish another bottle!!!

http://www.vmisales.com/glassminnowtrap/index.html Take a look at this glass minnow trap. It is a "Orvis" clone. Orvis glass traps were the best. I use a Orvis trap which looks like the one pictured. Crumble up a couple of crackers in it and 15 minutes in a stream and you'll have all the minnows you can use for a days fishing. Get one of these and you won't be sorry.

I second the glass minnow traps. They will outcatch the plastic ones by several times in much less time. My neighbor has put his plastic trap right next to my glass trap for the last several years, and it has never happened where he caught nearly as many minnows. Plus, if there are minnows nearby, as mentioned above, you can have all the minnows you need for a day in 15 or 20 minutes. I use oatmeal instead of crackers, but either will work. If you buy the glass trap, handle it carefully--they don't take kindly to rocks, dock supports, boat lifts, etc--I know from experience, but I wouldn't be without one.

The best quality and value trap is the K and E Minnow Trap out of Michigan.
