I have a 1997 Lund 1775 Pro V SE with a Johnson 90HP and a Johnson 10HP kicker. Both units run excellant but top end for the 90HP is 38-39 MPH. I just obtained at repo auction a 1999 Mercury 150HP EFI at a great price. The plan is to sell the Johnson 90HP, mount the Mercury, and keep the kicker.

The boat is rated for 150HP but I have concerns about the additional weight. The Mercury is 407Lb about 88Lb more than the Johnson.

I fish inland lakes in Ohio (10HP limit on some) and Lake Erie.

Anyone out there running a similar setup, IE 150HP Main motor and kicker? What if any problems should I watch out for? Is the 150Hp over kill in the motor department?

I've got a '93 1775 ProV DLX with a 150hp Evinrude. Go for it! You won't regret it. Use the Kicker on those lakes with the hp limit.

No sir,it sound's like a great set-up for the "big" water. I live in near by Pa. and I have the opposite problem. I need a bigger moter. My 25 hp is just a little small.Lund's are a great boat eh?

My tournament partner has a similar setup. He has a 1775 Pro V SE with a 150 Merc XR6 and a 8 hp Merc kicker. You'll love the setup. You should see in the neighborhood of 52 mph out of the rig, now you'll see the way that boat was meant to perform. The added weight will not be a problem. We've fished some bigger water with no problems at all. Enjoy!
