Running rod holders. need an idea for something to go over the holes.

I made some very nice running rod holders out of wood. and im going to carpet them, Just wondering if anyone has an idea of something that i can put into the holes on top of the wood as sort of a gromet..

Look at 'my photos'
I used Gray PVC, (1 5/8" OD, 1 1/4" ID)
You might be able to use golf club plastic tubes. They have a small, rolled, shoulder on the top edge. Just glue or epoxy them in.

Most of the hardware stores have plastic grommets for use on computer desks that work well when putting holes through carpeted surfaces. The come in various sizes and colors and most also have covers available when not in use. They are not expensive and available almost anywhere.
