I am looking for suggestions for summer raingear. In warm weather we wear light plastic jackets and pants from Columbia. These are OK while we are actually fishing, we are usually standing up and the water drains off. When we are sitting and the boat is moving thru an actual rain storm, the driver (we have a tiller boat) gets soaked thru, even if it is only a light rain and we are not moving very fast. The passengers can sit with their backs to the boat direction and stay fairly dry, but the driver must sit and face the wind and really gets it. I do not think it is only water coming thru the hole for your head, we get wet around the legs as well, as if the water is getting blown right thru the suits. Since we like to fish in cloudy weather, rain is likely, and we want to stay dryer.

Some suggestions:

Different rain gear, Frogg Toggs have been suggested

Don't wear any cotton underneath, synthetics only or even wetsuit-like stuff. That way they dry out and don't lose all their warmth if they get a little wet.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Frogg Toggs all the way for warm weather. I used Cabelas Guidewear until they get too hot and then go to the Frogg Toggs

if your not on a budget, Guidewear Lite is awesome. Frogg Toggs get good reviews.

Few extra clean shirts stored dry for passingers with crummy rain gear can make their day after the rain stops.
