I fished in a tournament [partner drawn]and the guy I got used, 10# Trilene Big Game in green as his main line for trolling spinners on bottom bouncers and had great luck using it. I bought some and had just the opposite experience, then realized he used baitcasters and I use spinning reels , is this line only for baitcasters ? or did I just get a bad spool ? seemed real stiff more so than Trilene XT, line fell off the reel. Any of you guys use it ?

I have never used it on a spinning reel but I use 40# big game on my river reels for big catfish and would not use anything else.
I would suspect it is not limp enough for a spinning reel.

Don - I use the Big Game Green on My linecounters (10lb.) and it works very well, but I too think it would be a bit stiff for spinning reels. C-man

I wouldnt have used Big Game on a spinning , its a little stiff for that!! I would use Sensation on your spinning gear!!

I've been using 15lb Big Game on my line counter reels for trolling and have been very happy with it.

For a period of about 3-4 years, they made Inshore Big Game in sizes from 6# - 20# and the 6,8 & 10# lines worked excellent on spinning reels. It had many of the same qualities as regular Big Game, but was a softer, more supple line that worked very well for spinning reels. They quit making Inshore Big Game when they came out with the junk they called Iron Silk (now gone too thank goodness!!) and other than Sensation, I've yet to find a mono type line that worked near as well for as the Inshore. Ahhhh Well!!!!!!!!!!

trilene big game is the strongest of the trilene lines, it is too stiff for spinning reels

Big Game is good stuff for cats, but I found Iron Silk in the same tests to be a more user friendly option.

Iron Silk is some TUFF STUFF, and flexible, lasts too.

I use Big Game green style on my Daiwa Sealine line counters at 30#.

I use a Berkley line for my spin reels, that is very strong and pretty good @ 4 and 6#. It is not big game. I need to ask the store I have put it on, what exactly it is.

Trilene Maxx is basically clear iron silk. Iron silk was a super mono and there are many kinds out there

You big ole sissy, real men wind their own line LOL
At least you gotta know what line it is so you can scratch, spit and talk line at the bait shop :-)

I use Power Pro and fireline for everything and love them. use to use big game on linecounters and deadstick bouncers and it was a good choice for that. tough stuff.

On my four Diawa linecounters I use Big Game twelve pound test since the diameter is close to the XT ten pound test. For jigging purposes I like ten pound Fireline or Powerpro. But for my Spinning rods that I use for casting I love Sensation eight pound test. Also on the jigging rods I use a swievel and about a three ft.piece of the sensation.Keeps the line twist out especially if you are tipping the jigs with three or four inch shiners.

Trilene Big Game is all that I use on my linecounters and salmon downrigger rods. I tried some on one of my baitcasters and was not impressed. For trolling, great. For casting, no good.

This line is good for big fish on linecounters. We used to use it pulling umbrella rigs on 40# test.
