Has anyone ever seen this before?? Two of the Walleye I caught in the Keweenaw Waterway had them....the one had over 20 on it and they were all on the fins.

I pulled one out of Saginaw Bay last Thursday that had one leech on a fin- first time I've noticed a leech on a walleye in 20+ years of fishing the Bay.

Were they Leeches or Blood Suckers, there is a difference.

In S.E. Michigan we get walleye with little worms, that look like a tiny leach. You will find them on the fins of the fish. From what I understand they come from the weeds in the water and do not hurt the fish, they are just hitching a ride. The other night I got about a 4 1/2# walleye with a 12" lamprey eel. That is the biggist I have ever seen them here, usally they are only 4" or so. He was clamped on the lower jaw, below the cheek.

Yes I think they were bloodsuckers they were gray in color.
Sure it wasn't a freshwater lamprey?
