I recently got a shipment of frozen meat in a container just perfect for keeping crawlers. My question is do you have to punch holes in the lid?

I've kept 500 or so crawlers in a flat "S" foam container, with a lid on it, in the frige foe weeks on end, and didn't have problems. If it's oxygen you are worried about. . . stop worrying. If it's rot. . . keep them refrigerated.

If the lid isn't tight or there's any holes, they'll make a run for it - trust me.

No holes.

I have purchased crawlers in styrafoam containers from bait shops and they never have holes in them.

As long as they are good and cold they will do well uncovered. Covered and warm will cook them fast. A flat of overheated crawlers is one of the worst smells I know! :(

Add a double page top layer of wet uncolored newspaper over the worm bedding. Keep the bedding well hydrated but not sloppy wet, and they will stay put and not wonder around in the fridge or cooler.
