Has any one been out to Colorado elk hunting in the last week or so? If so what was the weather like, how much snow, how cold, what was the hunting like on public land, mainly around the Meeker area just south of Rifle? any coments would be great.

A buddy of mine just got back. He said it was warm and most of the snow had melted. He hunted the first hunt, and the party of 3 hunters killed 2 bulls right away opening a.m. and had opportunities at others, but decided they had enough work to do with 2 dead animals and quit hunting. They didn't want to risk spoiling of meat in the warm weather. They were up around 10,000 ft.
