During 1st shotgun season in Illinois. I shot a medium sized 8-point.

The rack wasn't real big but it was unusual. The left rack was normal but the right side was not. It was turned down and was growing in front of his face like a face mask on a football helmet.

Because it was not a big rack I didn't think I would mount the head. Although I cut the skull and saved the rack, in case I wanted a skull mount.

Now I am having second thoughts.

Can a Taxidermist take that rack and use another hide and make this into a decent mount? I have pictures along with the rack.

That is not a problem at all. Many deer antlers are mounted with the "cape" from another deer. They can use either a buck or doe and it will look great. They might charge extra to supply the cape.

maybe you might want to do a skull mount.some taxidermy shops have flesh eating beatle colonys that would clean that right up.might profile the odd rack better than a head mount.

Thanks!

Flesh eating bugs?

Really?

I never thought about that.
