View Full Version : bow hunting
I dug out the target today and started to shoot. I have a moose hunt in the middle of Sept. Just got to thinking about the rest of you bow hunters and when you started shooting and if you do anything else to get ready. I am working on losing the 30 lbs I put on over the winter. I am lifting and working on some jogging But it just sucks! I just keep see that moose over the next hill and then the running or lifting gets better. Good luck abe1

Ever take aerobics and they hand you that stretchy rubber band? I bought one from Target. Pull back on it multiple times and hold it back for a couple of minutes at a time. It really helps build strength in the arm.
I didn't get to shoot at a nice buck my first year bowhunting because I drew back on a doe coming out of the corn. She stayed right under neath me for over a minute and I didn't want to undraw the bow and spook her. When she finally walked into the grove and I undrew the bow, a buck walked out of the corn and stood 20 feet from me. I tried to pull back with all my might, but my arm was fried and I couldn't. By the time I was able to pull back he was 40 yards away and moving back into the corn.
Hope you get a moose!!!!

Hey abe1
I always try and shoot year round. It helps. At least I had the time to shoot all year long last year. Lately just on the weekends. Beginning of last year, My first 70 shoots were dead on. I got a total of 7 deer last year. And my freezer is starting to get empty. Yeah, I've been just waiting for the ol' calender to roll around Oct. 1st. Can't wait.In August I will start to make mock scrapes and will reapply sent all the way up to hunting time. Mock scrapes are awesome, you must give them a try if you haven't. I passed up 8 bucks last year on one scrape alone.
See you on the stand
