I live in Akron OH and have been deer hunting in PA for the past few years. I am not able to hunt in PA this year and I am looking for a place closer to home. I don't know anyting about the local public hunting areas and I am looking for some advice. If anyone out there knows of private land I could hunt, I would be happy to pay for the opportunity. I'm not looking for a free ride, just a good and safe place to hunt.

I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Tom

To the moderator - Is there anything that I can do in order to get this topic in front of more people? If I posted this in the fishing section I'll bet I would have recieved several responses.

Sincerely,

Tom

Tom:

I'm not so sure it would have gotten more responces on the fishing board. The fishing board moderators probably would have moved it here pretty quickly.

I understand, the traffic here is lighter than on the General Discussion board..... but rules are rules. Maybe try finding a few hunting specific message forums to post your topic on? Just a suggestion. Good luck!

Tommy here's a suggestion.

Call your county SWCD office (Soil and Water Conservation District) and see if they have a wildlife specialist on staff. I looked in my current SWCD staff roster and see none listed for Summit and surrounding counties but that may have changed since the book was printed. If there is one they will be able to put you in touch with landowners that are having problems with deer.

Option 2 would be to contact your local conservation officer and ask him for contacts who operate orchards, nurseries, or farmers that may be experiencing damage from deer.

Good Luck

That's good advice - Thank you. I actually found a place to hunt in
Carrolton County. I have to chop some wood tomorrow as a part of the deal. I happy to do it though.

Actually that is my uncle. He called me after you mentioned to him that I was looking for a place. Thanks. I'm hunting with him down near Marietta. They have a camp down there and I guess it is a great place.

Thanks,

Tom
