Hi all -
I am attempting to set up a moose hunting trip in '06 to go on with my Dad. I'm wondering where the most productive place is to go. I'm not particularly concerned about price of license (but I don't really care to pay $1,200.00 for a license either). I'm more concerned about success of getting drawn in a non-resident lottery situaion and finding an area that has good moose population.

Currently, I am trying to decide between hunts in Montana, Wyoming, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan. Does anyone have any experience with huns in these areas? I know that Ontario and Saskatchewan at least require guides for non-resident hunts, does anyone out there know of a good outfitter in one of those places?

This post is starting to get a bit winded, so I'll cut it short here. Again my preferences are in this order:

1. Area that contains a good Moose population
2. Success of being drawn
3. Price

thanks in advance,
Northerner

I would check out Ontario. You can only get your tags through an outfitter, but a guide is NOT required in Ontario. Alot of the outfitters only offer guided hunts, but there are alot of unguided hunts as well. Most include staying in outpost cabins and include good fishing as well.
