I had one of those Blue Moon hunts this afternoon in n/e WI. it was like the whole woods was programmed to re-lease all of its Bucks. It started out miserable the morning hunt was wet cold snowy but the rut here is in full swing so instead of hanging it up for the whole day I went home quickly dried up ate lunch and had a good cup of coffe then hit the woods. I got to my stand about 2:45 pm layed out doe heat and then at 3:30 a huge thick girthy beam 10 pointer stepped into the recently logged area it had a rack like tree limbs It came within 30 yards I passed because I didnt feel it was right, my arrow had ice all over it and there was a bit of a wind so I let him go for a better shot. After that a flow of bucks just keept comming through some far some close it was snowing pretty well and I just didnt want to shoot a deer in these conditions so I let all walk for next time (Been at it about 25 years now, no rush) On the way home I was dogging deer, mainly big bucks left and right had to lock up the brakes a few times. What a night to remember.

I was out last night in a new stand location. A Doe and her fawn raced a cross a hay field right up past my stand. Obviously they were pushed or chased.

10 minutes later here comes a Buck, nose to the ground. I couldn't see his rack until he was about 40yds away.

To my disappointment it was Elliot from the movie " Open Season".
The Buck had half a rack.

It was a great evening to be out though.

That's awesome Private Eyes! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
If I close my eyes, I can almost imagine what you were seeing and feeling that night. But, it will never come close to having actually been there, like you were.
The sights, the smells, the snow, ice, and wind...it all plays on your senses to make those magical moments in one's life last forever in thier memories. ;)
