Has anyone found a good electric deep fryer? Every one I've owned has failed to keep the oil hot enough to fry fish well unless you fry only small amounts and then wait for the oil to reheat. I usually use my propane fryer, but it would sure be nice to have a smaller electric one to use in the house. Any suggestions??

After a little searching I found it at:

Has anyone tried the Maxipro deep fryer they have listed?

I have a Rival Model # RCF-15-W from K-mart. It looks just like the Magiclean model on the t-fal website. They must make them for Rival or vis versa. At any rate I just bought it early summer of 2001. I am very satisfied with it, far better than any of the others I have had through the years.

Sorry about the bad link, I was on the site the other day and thought I had remebered it. I am going to purchase the T_FAL unit that runs about $65-$70 very soon, after using a friend's last summer.

I have an older model T-Fal fryer that has the integrated basket and non-stick coating and would not go that route again. The thing is really hard to clean well because the basket raises and loweres in a channel inside and this channel is very hard to get at to clean. After only a few uses, it gets caked with gummy crud and I tried various types of brushes and cleaners but could never get it out. Pretty unappatising to cook food in it after that. It did a great job of frying with the sealable lid and charcoal filter(which needs replacing) and T-Fal makes good appliances, but to save a lot of cleaning grief I would look at something like a Fry Daddy even though it does not have the temp. control. Good luck.

Best I have found if you are cooking smaller quanitys is the FRY DADDY and you can get them at Wal Mart. They a have a preset temp and recover real quick, easy to clean and comes with a lid so you can store your grease to use more than once. Grrrrrrreate for cooking for 4 or 5 people. Check em out you won't be disapointed. If you don't like it Wally will always take em back Ron
I always used Fry-daddy's in the past
Nobody cared how tired it looked as long it fried what we we're cooking
Last spring i had some SEARS points to spend and thought (I NEED A NEW FRYER)and off i went to sears
Few choices and so i gambled on the MAGICLEAN it has the lid/filter and removable basket
Good general fryer but can't keep a party supplied quik enough for a
fish fry
I will QUIT shutting the lid on this fryer for fish because I think that the moisture effects the OIL
Example:
I fry rolled out bread dough for Elephant Ear pizza for the kid's LID-OPEN and don't loose the integrity of the oil as kwik as if the lid were closed
Other than that it fries just great with patience

I had a DeLonghi with the sloped bottom and rotating basket that supposeldy used less oil and was healthier but it was hard to clean and capacity was not all that great. It went on the fritz, So i went to Sam's club and got the T-Fal maxi pro for $79. I like the fact everything disassembles and is easy to clean. capacity is nice too. only downfall i see is lack of carbon filters. wife complains of smellin up the kitchen but oh well!

I have the T-Fal brand and the largest size. It has a non-stick surface with a wire basket. I have never had any problems cleaning it or the oil not staying hot enough. It has a lid you close, with a filter to cut down on the smell. I am totally happy with it.

The Ultrex fryer is the best I've ever seen. Ordered it from Home Shopping Network. Might be able to get it off their website hsn.com
The heating elements are in the oil and it regains it's temp. very quickly. It stays cool to the touch on the outside also. Oil resevoir is seperate also so you can take it out and clean it..A great fryer for around 60 bucks..

I just use a cast iron frying pan and a thermometer, easy enough in the kitchen, strain the grease when done keep it stored in a jar. there yah go. no need to spend the bucks. and get rid of the electric stoves.keep on fryin.
