Just curious as to what your all time hottest lure/technique is. Without a doubt mine would have to be trolled tots. Make mine gold with the flourescent orange back.

Gotta go with jig/minnow, jig/chartreuse plastic or trolled shadraps.

Trolling hot n tots (not the NEW things) would have to be mine. #65 or #148 have to be the best producers.

"All time" would go back to the red and white daredevil era and you will have to catch a "lot" of fish to pass that old faithful with the modern lures.

Most years it's something different but a few old techniques and standby's keep popping up year after year. Do not let technology dull your "instincts" !!!!!!! The Snoopy rod and a hot dog bun is better then denial.

Strong margaritas while watching Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser on Friday night public television seems to work for me. I always get lucky with that combo ;-) Wierd but true!

Otherwise, pitching tipped slow-poke jigs around shallow structure. For bigger fish in fall, I like big chubs under bobbers.

Tough conditions: Jig and minnow, chartreuse probably #1 color.
Aggresive bite: #5 or #7 Shad Rap, crawdad probably #1 color.

I would have to say "JIG". Jig & minnow, Jig & Crawler, Jig & leech, Jig & grub. 2nd choice would be bottom bouncing a crawler harness.

Trolling the old Tsticks along dropoffs, or casting them over shallow rock piles and flats. Best colors last year were the firetiger/perch and the blue/white.

My hottest lure is a "Rabble Rouser" top water. I use them handlining in water 50 deg. or higher. Bone and "bubble gum" the hottest color.

3/4 oz.Lead slab(spoon),unpainted, hold flat in your hand and take a pocket knife and scrape with the knife blade perpendicular to the lead so that the blade will scrape the lead and leave hundreds of shiny marks on both sides then catch fish till your arms ache.:)

Drewman,

My favorite is the lightest jig possible and the live bait choice of the day.

However, my second favorite is the same as yours: the old style hot n tot #109 gold met w/flourescent orange back and white belly. This is the best shallow runner I've ever found, nothing even close. Maybe that's why I just spent my wife's birthday money on the last ones I could find..

Have to say that the best I've used this past year was a Michigan Stinger Spoon in Confusion/Silver Back and Copper Back. Also my son did great on Gold Shine.

#1 choice - trained remoras.
#2 choice when remoras refuse go on strike because of large predators is the 1/4 oz gold-perch Wally Diver 44'to 66'back of a planer board
