Finally...

So after missing opening weekend due to my good friend and his new wife, I got to hunt this weekend. Saturday was terrible, didn't kill a bird, and only shot a couple shells. Bright sun, no wind, bad spot = not much success.

Sunday morning my brother and I hit an old favorite spot. Killed 4 ducks and 2 honkers and made it back home by 10 am. Should have had limits of ducks probably, but it was that early season rust that prevents a guy from hitting a duck hovering over decoys at 15 yards and makes you think your barrel is bent. :D Funny that a summer of shooting skeet didn't help, always struggle the first morning. Nothing great, but it felt good to have some birds to take pictures of.

So anyway, who else hunted this weekend?

I had to do some work at cabin (pontoon out, dock out - caught some nice smallies) but went out Saturday and missed a grouse, and checked out some new rice marshes/spots we might try for duck this coming weekend. My bro got a bluebill and missed some teal near the Twin Cities metro area, but pretty bad, as was our weekend last weekend at normal spot in West Central MN.

I am told that cans and ringbill are starting to gather in our regular spot, so we might go there this weekend, or maybe back up by the cabin and try new spots. The following weekend we are for sure going to our normal spot, and weekend after that might be a NoDak weekend, if I can get away from work deadlines... (I will find a way ;) )
