Man, I'm pumped! A Lion Country Supply - Classic Upland Double (Ugartechea). 28 ga. grade II w/27" barrels. Should arrive in a week. What a hassle trying to find a FFL transfer agent in the area - a whole different story. The Grouse and Timberdoodles better look out come September! Bob WC#253.

What is a timberdoodle? Can't say we scare those up on the plains.

A timberdoodle is also called a wood****. They are a migratory bird about half the size of a grouse and have a hollow bill about 3 inches long. They stick that bill into marshy soft ground looking for bug and worms. After the first freeze here in Wisconsin, they are gone. They can't get that bill into the soil for feeding.

I have taken a bunch of them during the last 40 years. Typically when they are jumped they will fly straight up for about 12 feet or so and then straight away in a line.

Actually we do have a few, verrrry few, wood****s on some of the rivers like the Missouri. Proverbial needle in the haystack. I have seen only a few in my life.

swede - The Ugartechea, is sold in the States by Lion Country Supply ( the upland dog supply people). They are Spanish made, used to make the Parker Hale for years. It is on a 28ga. frame. There are 5 different grades. Grades one thru three are box locks (Ansen-Deeley), four and five are side locks. I picked a Grade 2 boxlock which comes hand checkered and engraved. Also chose the coin finnish on the reciever. LC Supply also carries Grulla. Check out Thier website - www.LCSupply.com . The price of the grade 2 - 28 ga. was $1615.00 delievered. Not a bad price considering a quality s/s with hand engraving & checkering. Bob WC#253.

chamookman---Hmmmm, very interesting. Looks like a nice gun, and the price sounds reasonable. Make sure you post, and let us know what you think when you get it in your hands. 5 1/2 lbs--very interesting.

Well gang it's here! One word can describe it - SWEET. Very light and carries nice (balance). Points right where I'm looking (although unfired). The checkering is sharp and crisp and the engraving is tastefull, but not overpowering. After alot of shopping around and fingerprinting many guns, some ALOT more expensive - a real bargin for the money. I was a bit gunshy (sorry for that!), of buying a gun sight unseen, but am VERY happy with the reuslts. Lion Country Supply are nice people to deal with. Bob WC#253.
