As of late, I'm rather partial to Fiocchi HV (high velocity) for both the 20 ga. & 28 ga. Bob

I used the Fiocchi nickel plated stuff last year as well and was impressed with them. Before that always shot Federal Premium copper coated, but the Fiocchi seems to perform as well and are a bit less expensive.

I'm partial to the high velocity copper Federal loads and the the new Fiocchi GPX Golden Pheasants that are fast too.

Best pheasant shell ever for heavy cover like the head high CRP we have in Eastern Nebraska was their 1.5 oz 1400 fps nickel 5's. What a shell! (I might have a case or two hidden yet)

If you want to see if Nickel/copper BB's are worth it, clean a mess of birds shot with $5 shells and good shells, it will take just a few birds for you to see why it's worth it and more humane to shoot good shells in thick cover.

Spanish! Do you trust that we have provided you with enough rope so that your cinder block will fall safely to the ground? Blue, do you trust that I do not want to see you die here tonight? Blue, you're my boy!

Federal Premiums are my all time favorite. It just drives me crazy when I see people with a 50k suv pulling a 5k dog trailer, shooting a 2k shotgun, hunting over high powered dogs, and shooting $3 shells. What the hull are the thinking?----------Don't get me started.

May I add 250.00 dollars a day hunts to guy's up in phesant counrty.I guess, if South Dakota Farmers charge that kind of money those are the kind of hunters (?) your going to see going up/down there.
I was able to find a guy that let me in on some land for a 100.00 dollars with room a day. The only problem was we needed more land to hunt on. 640ac was not enough for 11 dogs and three guy's for three days.
We did manage to clean it up :)

Should be a good year everywhere! All the reports are positive this year. Good luck out in the field.

Hey Swede, them city slicker gettting to ya! you should see Denver
it's a mess. we are running out of places to run dogs due to all them other people moving in and buying everything. get ready it's coming your way.

Other. I am eccentric and still handload. Customizing loads is more expensive than buying rifle bullets and shotshells OTC, but I'd rather sit at my loading bench than watch TV. Reloading isn't a hobby, it's an addiction! I started reloading at age 12, in 1965, and haven't kicked the habit.

DHR- You been to Cherry Creek lately? Send me a PM or email and I'll chat with you about places to run dogs in CO & KS.

Todd,

Have you ever heard of or tried Polywad's Shotshells? (Granted, I'm a little biased because I recently teamed up with Jay Menefee and we redesigned his Polywad web site... but I've seen many rave reviews with some calling this the best shotshell for Pheasants.)

You can view all of Polywad's products on their home page... which also includes quite specifically about Polywad pheasant shotshells (the "Polymag 60-X") I refered to above.

SEE:

Thanks!

(I found your messageboard while doing market research for Polywad and discovered that you were talking about "best shotshells for pheasant hunting".)

Olympic trap - Fiocchi and Sellier & Bellot
Sporting clays - Fiocchi and Sellier & Bellot
Pheasants - Remington Nitro or HEVI-Shot
Chukar - Remington Express Extra Long Range
Dove & Quail - Remington Shur-Shot or Sport loads
Turkey - Remington Buffered or Duplex
Waterfowl - Bismuth Cartridges or Kent Tungsten

Shoot alot of Remington because of a sweet deal my father-in-law gives me. He's a wholesale sporting equipment dealer. Has a good line on Remington and Blount Inc (Weaver, Outers, CCI, RCBS, etc)products.
