I can't speak for Real Geese, but I have used Outlaw sillouettes for over 10 years and they have held their color and shape just fine. We decoyed plenty of geese during our early season Labor Day weekend, fooling flocks of 8-25 birds at a time. Get or make a hole digger, the plastic stakes won't punch a hole in dry or frozen dirt.

I also use the Outlaw brand. I don't use them exclusively, I always mix a dozen or two in with my spread of full bodies. Its an easy way to add to your spread. I am a believer that you shouldn't use them alone, without full bodies though I know some who do with some success. It just seems to me that decoy shy geese need a little something more to entice them down. They are light, easy to carry and pack, and hold up fairly well. Like the other poster said, don't try to force them into frozen or very hard ground though. My brother in law made me a device out of a flat piece of 4 foot steel and welded a foot peg on it to make holes to put the decoy stakes in.
