I've been looking into getting a NSDTR and wanted to know if anybody on the board has one. And, in particular if you ever take it out on the boat fishing with you. Just curious about how a high energy dog does on the boat.

Do a general google search and you'll find a Toller club. Go from there. Or, search from the AKC.org website. Finding dogs of which there are few litters registered each year is a tough row to hoe. I wanted an IWS three years ago. After finding a couple of planned litters and getting on a waiting list, the odds were still against me. The first litter, of which I placed a deposit, the female absorbed the puppies. The next litter, five weeks into the pregnancy, the female got an infection and the puppies had to be aborted. Nearly a year went by and I still didn't have an IWS (hunting companion). I went out and got 2 Springers so that I wouldn't miss another duck season. Had Springers all my life (and other breeds of bird dogs as well, but always at least one Springer in the kennel). Maybe that's how it's supposed to be for me.

Another option is to attend a dog show. You can look up the show schedule for 2006 on the AKC website. If it is one of the bigger shows (usually the big shows last 3-4 days)you will likely find the breed you are looking for in attendance. Nothing like seeing the dogs and talking to the pros about the breed.

Meanwhile, maybe there is an owner of Tollers on WC whom will contact you. But I'd not sit around and wait for one to come to me.

There's no shortage of Toller info on-line. I'm researching getting one and I just wanted to talk to someone first hand with regards to my specific question.

The third week in February I will be attending a 4 day all breed AKC show. There are always Tollers in attendance competing. Do you have a breeder in mind? Do you want me to get names & numbers?
