While I was at the madison sport show last weekend, I came upon the rapala booth with a rapala rep sitting there. I asked him "why did they change a lure that worked so good, into a piece of junk that can't catch a cold?" This question was reffering to hot n tots. His answer was "the new tots with the lexan bill will run truer, never need to be tuned, and will last longer than the old metal ones. They are an all around better bait" I was shocked at that comment, so I said "I don't care if the bait is better, it doesn't catch any fish, and how can a piece of crap plastic lip outlast a metal lip?!" He was angry at me so I asked him why they stopped making mettalic gold shad raps. His answer to that was "sales" Unless rapala are fricking idiots (which i think they must be) they would know that mettalic gold will outsell faded bluegill or baby bass. Come on rapala, THINK!

Same with the Taildancer craze last season. I have them and used them, however, Walleye Divers, Little Rippers, and the old Hot-n-Tots always produced for me. I always have used Rapala's and still will-I just don't think that sales make the final decision. They do need to bring back the metallic gold. I wonder if the faded bluegill and baby bass colors will be in the discount bins soon.
