Still trying to understand how Walleyes move around under the ice I read that after the lake is iced over some of them beging to display patterned movements much like a soft water walleye where as they start shallow by first ice and then gradually move deeper and then back, any truth to this or what do you think?

On Saginaw Bay, in the morning the walleye are in shallow areas eating. As it gets brighter and probably more noise they go deeper during the day. In the evening you can see them coming back in. Lot of fun to watch on an underwater camera. Nels

Use the WALLEYE CENTRAL BUSINESS DIRECTORY "Skeeters Stuff" under marine supplies (boat cleaning supplies), it really does work.

I found on LOTW that the move in and out off of a reef during the day. You can limit out in minutes when they are on the feed or you might have to wait 3-4 hrs to catch your limit. It appears to be an all or nothing situation. Most of the times you will catch the same year class all season long in certain areas.

Have to agree with everyone else, Walleyes will spend the daytime in deeper water on rock humps, deep breaks, boulders, etc. During low light periods they will move shallow to feed and will go extremely shallow at times. Fishing first ice I have seen them through the ice in less than 5 ft of water on the weed edges. It's best at that time of the year to set your tip ups and then sit on shore and wait.

On Devils Lake try your summer bobber spots in the mornings or evenings. During the day I usually try to find the perch. Evenings I usually hit a rockpile for walleyes.
