View Full Version : Limit on LOTW
I know the limit is 8, with no more than 4 walleyes. But I'm wondering how you transport them home? If I bring home 8 fish (walleye and sauger), do I only "gut" them? I don't think I could fillet them since there would be no way of knowing if I had 8 walleyes. What do the resorts up there do for their customers?

They have licensed fish packers at most resorts.

If you are looking at bringing home 4 saugers from LOTW, you need to gill and gut them. Once they are filleted they count as walleyes, and that would put you over the limit of 4 eyes.

You are required to leave a piece of skin on the fillets, so that they can be identified.

Check your Minnesota fishing handbook. It explains how to fillet the fish to transport.
