Wondering how long these ice houses last with the plastic molded bottoms, Like Frabill, Otter, Clam, ect. Do they damage or tear easily? What about hooking a meatal hitch up, can they withstand?

I can only speak about the Otter sleds. I've been sing one for 4 or 5 years now and the sled is tuff, no cracks or punch holes - I do have the hyfax wear runners on the bottom since day one otherwise it might of had a wear hole in the bottom from dragging across bare parking lots.

Thats good to know because that is what I have a ottersled, when you put the tracks on did the screws poke through the other side, or how did they mount? I am wondering because I actually floated mine in the river like a jon boat and I didnt want any holes in it.

I bought the hyfax runners from otter, they have counter sunk holes to keep the screws from wearing on the ground. If your worried about the sled sinking in water you can put silicone under the screws but it should float for quite a while without sealing the screws.

I'VE HAD MY OTTER FOR 7 YEARS NOW. IF YOU TAKE IT EASY ON THE PARKING LOTS AND I DO, MINE SHOULD LAST ALEAST 7 MORE YEARS
