You guys think we might have some safe ice by the weekend? I'm ready.
Drove by Cedar Lake Saturday wide open, Lake Zurich Sunday the same. Some small ponds setting up. I'm sure the back waters are getting ice but the main lakes can't set up because of the winds.

Have you heard if Jim's bait in Fox Lake is still open? I heard it was for sale.
First Georgette at the Volo Store, now Jim's. Triangle is usually out of my way.
Where else can I get big frozen whole smelt in northern IL?

Those smelt (Jewel) always are gutted without heads.

He has been selling it for over a year. Last visit(3 weeks ago) he was still open.

Yes, yes, yes. We have safe ice now in the backwaters. Try Nielson's Channel off of the Fox River - they already have over 3" of ice. Some back channels in the chain-o-lakes have ice has been reported by Triangle Bait.
