I just got a pair of Hi-Tech slip on ice cleats at Scheels for $3.00. I was out on the ice all day today and can't belive how easy they were to put on and how good they worked. It isn't often that a $3 product works great. If others use different cleats, feel free to chime in.
I'm a cleat freak after cracking a couple of ribs 4 years ago on the ice. Missed 3 weeks of fishing because of it. Cheapest safety gear you'll ever own.
I was on Brown's Lake near Sioux City, 3" and it was good ice.
