Al,

I have walked away when looking at these due to the price. Since I am usually fishing snag infested waters, I tend to be frugal. They look pretty nice--I'm sure someone else will post with their experiences. I may try some this year.

I bought one of those big suspending yo-zuri cranks last spring and never used it until the last week in Oct. I was trolling the reefs at Little Bay De Noc and decided to give it a try. Five minutes later I had a 10.5 pound walleye!

I have a friend here in Arkansas that caught a 6#, 7.5# walleye and several smaller males last week casting these below Lake Ouchaita Dam. I went Sunday to same place and only managed one small male with a shad rap. Where he was fishing there was little to snag on. I ask him what he caught the fish on thinking probably shad raps and he walked to his boat and showed me. I said what is it???? I had never seen one until then. He said it is a Yo-zuri Crystal Minnow. It had orange belly, silver side and dark back. He was sold on them.

I've been using yo-zuri's for the last 3 years since they came out. I love then and use them for trolling and casting, mostly here in Wyoming. I had friends with that would try everything in the box and could not keep up. They seem to work best at a fast speed, 3 to 4 mph. I had a tackle store and no one would buy because of the price so I baught them all that we had. I have since baught servral hundred $ worth. Its somthing the fish havent seen. Have had great success on Keyhole, Glendo, and Boysen with them in the diffrent forms. I would at lest try them on your home water, you never know!

Gander mountain has the crystal minnow cranks marked down to $5.79, I believe this is a pretty good price. Might want to check it out.

We used the big suspending crystal minnows trolling on Mille Lacs last fall. They were outstanding! I caught my first 30" eye with one. We noticed a definite advantage over husky jerks. A perfect example was our last trip: I lost my last yozuri and went back to a husky. I must have gone 45 minutes without catching anything until I borrowed one. I had a 26" on within 45 seconds! Some of that was probably luck or chance but we did mark a difference between the two baits. If you hold a suspending yozuri next to a HJ and shake them, the yozuri vibrates and make a nice rattle. Most of the noise from the HJ is from the trebles hitting the lure. The swimming wobble on a yozuri is much more pronounced too.

I can hardly wait to try the deep divers this summer. The only downer is that price.

Where can you get these at? and who has the best price? do they have different sizes, running depths ect?

Shane,

You can find them in both Cabella's and Bass Pro Shops catalogs. I know they can be ordered through cabella's website too. As far as retail is concerned - it is hit or miss. Some places carry them, others don't. Gander Mountain does and if you live close enough to a cabella's retail outlet, they have 'em too.

I believe there are three (or maybe four) sizes of crystal minnows. I think the new deep divers are available in a couple different sizes. Just look at the packaging or the back of the individual lure. If it says "Yozuri F" if is a floater, if it says "Yozuri SP" - you guessed it, they suspend.

I've only used the ones with "SP" on their backs. I don't think the regular Crystal Minnows get down far enough for typical walleye fishing. The big 5 1/4" ones I've used get down about 6-8 feet when trolled around 2 mph (gps).
